Systeem voor makkelijkere besturing van kranen

The aim of the project is the creation of a system that helps to drive cranes easier, smoother and safer by avoiding load sway. To realise this we will use the patented algorithm from partner Innocrane Oy. Using this algorithm inside, new control systems will create new opportunities for controlling cranes in general and production cranes in particular. Ordinary crane movements, bridge and trolley, result in uncontrolled load movement due to the fact that the load is normally hanging in under a hook on a cable. This uncontrolled load movement can result in damage of the load, of equipment in the neighbourhood and can injure people.

Also, crane drivers sitting in crane cabins can face severe physical stress on their body trying to avoid the swing of the load. If the load swings a lot, positioning is difficult. This will also be a problem for automation of the crane. Good automation is not possible in such a case. Another item is that with a good anti-sway control, stress in the crane, the drives and the building can be avoided. Cranes are a forgotten field in logistic automation. More or less because it was not possible or the costs are much too high. So our goal is to make an affordable system for a great number of cranes.
